Laser Therapy

Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)

LLLT is a technology which uses visible red-light and near infra-red wavelengths to treat injuries and pain, both acute and chronic.

Inflammation is part of the complex biological response of vascular tissues when presented with harmful stimuli such as pathogens, damaged cells or irritants

Acute inflammation is the initial response to the stimuli caused by increased movement of plasma and leukocytes from the blood into the injured tissues.

The process of Acute Inflammation is initiated by cells that are already present in all tissues.   Macrophage cells play an important role in the repair of tissue by attacking and digesting the pathogens. They also stimulate other immune cells to respond to the pathogen.

Chronic inflammation occurs when it is prolonged and when there is a progressive change in the type of cells at the site of inflammation. This stage can cause simultaneous healing and destruction of the tissues involved.

The effects of LLLT are photochemical, like photosynthesis in plants. The laser can affect cell membrane permeability and aid the production of ATP (the fuel for our cells) thereby providing the cell with more energy, which in turn means the cell is in optimum condition to play its part in a natural healing process.

It is a safe procedure, non-invasive, no negative side effects and highly effective.

The treatments are available for Horses, Humans, Dogs and small animals and can be used to assist with:-

  • Tendon/Ligament injuries
  • Degenerative joint disease. (arthritis)
  • Back and sacro-illiac  injuries.
  • Muscular sprains and tears
  • Wounds
  • Inflammation
  • Fractures
  • Scar tissue / tissue damage
  • Pain relief
